How Singapore became a force in logistics.

Singapore was a low-income country with limited natural resources, infrastructure, investment and jobs when it first gained its independence. Today, the small city-state is home to the world’s largest transhipment container port, and boasts the world’s best airport, connecting to 380 cities in some 90 countries. Dr Zhang Qingyu and Zhang Kaiyun of Surbana Jurong’s Economic & Industrial Planning team trace the history of Singapore’s logistics industry and factors owing to its success.
